How Did Unity Is Strength Save Their Lives?
Once there was a flock of pigeons. They were happy and good friends of each other. They feel joy together. They always went together on any kind of adventure. If one pigeon suffered or had bad health, others took great care of him.
One day their older pigeon gathered them and told them a great life lesson: “Look, my children, this world is full of hardships. If you suffer any kind of hardship, do give each other help. Do not run away to save only your life.
Unity is strength, my child. Do help each other in troubles and suffering. They learned what was taught by the older pigeon. The flock of pigeons flew in the morning, and after pecking, they returned to their homes in the evening.
One day the flock of pigeons flew in the morning to eat the grains. They were searching for food but did not find it anywhere. One pigeon told them a place where they could get grains, but that was a new place for them.
They all knew that the new place could be dangerous, as hunters could make them their food and also catch them. The hunter could force them to live in a cage for the rest of their whole lives, and they would lose their freedom.
After some thought, they decided to fly to that place. They all flew, and what they saw—that place was full of grains. They all were hungry; they hurriedly flew to that place, but one older pigeon warned them we should not move down, as there could be a great trick to capture us.
Everyone was hungry; they didn’t want to listen to the old pigeon. After watching the hunger of all the pigeons, they flew down and gobbled the wheat grains,
but when they tried to fly, they found out they were caught in a net that was spread by the hunter.
They all remembered the old pigeon’s warning, but what could be done then? The old pigeon was also caught with them. They also remembered the advice, “Unity is strength.” All pigeons, one by one, were trying to fly, but they all failed.
After so many attempts, they lost hope and thought the hunter would catch them and put them into the cage, and their whole life would be spent there. The old pigeon was watching everything and thinking the old pigeon told them the hunter was coming; if they didn’t fight for freedom, they would lose their lives.
The old man said, “Didn’t forget my kids; unity is strength. Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” He took all your power and flew this net with us. They all collected their strength and flew; they flew the net with them.
